"Here." The tea was still warm when you offered it to the man sitting by the window. He had a blank expression on his face, his eyes were lost somewhere outside that house, in the sun that hang above you in that grey sky. He shifted his gaze to you after a moment, not moving at first. "Drink while it's still warm." You insisted, using your free hand to give a little tug to the sleeve of his shirt. The truth was that you were worried about him, he hadn't eaten much lately. He tried to put up an act to show that he was strong and unbreakable, but it didn't matter how blank of a expression he put on, you could still tell it was just a facade. He had lost his friends in his first expedition, you had seen the look on his face when you and Erwin found him, he had this fiery anger and pain in his grey eyes. "Levi." You called again, holding up the tea next to his face.

"Tch." He made that annoyed sound he would always do as you forced him to eat or drink. He remained quiet, gaze once again lost in the outside word. He took a while before drinking a sip of the tea you so carefully prepared. He could be impossible at times, stubborn as only you thought you could be. Somehow, you had a way with him that the others didn't have as bad as they tried to. Hanji was always trying to hang out with Levi, and they did become close eventually, but with much hard work and patience from her. You, on the other hand, always made Levi company and food. He was very picky when it came to food, always saying things tasted like shit. He ate it anyways, but when it was something made by you he would truly savour it. He probably would never say it directly to you, but he was thankful for having you taking care of him, as annoying and insistent as you were.

Sitting down beside him, you carefully watched him as he drank the tea, wanting to make sure he would feed properly. That's how you spend most of your free time, sitting beside him in some silent support that he appreciated. It was inevitable that you grew close as most of your time was spent together. That silent was comforting for the both of you, so much could be said when everything was quiet that it enthralled you. You were never one to enjoy the silence, but you eventually learned just how intense it could be. And, somettimes, when Levi was in the mood to truly talk, hours were spent like that. You talked more than him, but in his silence and piercing gaze you found so much comfort that words couldn't really bring.

Lost in thoughts as you were, you didn't even noticed as he shifted his gaze to you, watching you closely as he finished his tea. Levi was not one to show his feelings too clearly, he closed himself even more after Isabel and Farlan died, but yet he felt comfortable enough with you to express himself at times. Just as you felt this way with him. He came from the underground, always fighting for survival, for a better place to live. Not only for himself, but for others as well. You never shared the others first vision of Levi, the thug that came to steal their spot. Instead, you saw him as a brave man who never quit under pressure. He had such strenght you even envied him sometimes, because you wished to be just as strong.

"My uncle was from the Survey Corps." This time you were the one to break the silence, you watched the mug in your hands with a nostalgic expression on your face. "He always believed in humanity. He had more faith than anybody else I had ever met, he had this will to live, to see the sea. He had always been in love with the idea of the sea, we used to read these books with storys about the sea, the forests, the animals that lived there." You hadn't realised you were crying until you felt Levi's hand wiping out the tears while he watched you in silence, absorbing the story you told him. "He told me that he would take me to the sea one day, when the titans were finally defeated." A smile creeped in your lips, a soft sob leaving them instead. "He left one day and never came back. We didn't even had a body to bury." Your voice was failing, and you nuzzled into his hand.

"Why did you join the Survey Corps?" That was something he had always been curious to know, but never really tried to ask you. He wanted you to tell him everything, just as he told you things about him no one else knew. To share things that were so deeply inside your hearts made you closer each time you talked. He waited for you to calm yourself down, cleaning up your tears as his fingers brushed against your cheeks in a gentle manner. He felt the urge to take you in his arms and hold you tight, something that was so unlike him. You made him go out of character, you messed with something hidden deeply inside of him. Something he didn't really felt with anybody else.

"Because I also believe in humanity." A smile tugged at your lips even in the middle of your weeping and you raised your head to look Levi in the eyes. That was the thing he was most fond of in you, your ability to smile even in the saddest moments. You always found a reason to smile. "I believe that, one day, we will see the sea. That we won't need those walls around us anymore. I want to see life, to see nature. To see the animals I read about." You kept the smile on your face, the tears running down your cheeks at the same time. It was haunting just as it was beautiful. "I've read about these animals, wolfs. They are so beautiful. They mate for life, you know? They choose only one partner for their entire lives. It's so beautiful, to love someone so deeply. It's just as lonely, though." You chuckled softly. "They become lone wolfs if their loved one died."

That was something usual to you, talking about the nature that fascinated you so much. Levi always enjoyed to listen to the stories you had to tell him, not only about the world outsides the walls, but the tales you had heard and liked so much. He was enthralled by them, in a way he had never been before. When he was in the underground, he was fascinated with the outside world. Now that he was outside of that damp and dark hole, he was fascinated by the world you told him about, by the world you dreamed of. He wanted to know that world, with you. He found something to fight for, this world of yours. He pulled you closer and pressed a kiss to your forehead, his eyes slipping shut as he breathed in your scent.

The way he held you made you feel as if the world was way too beautiful, your arms wrapped around him and you nuzzled into his neck, just wanting to feel him close to you. He had this power over you, he calmed you down and made you feel safe. He felt the same way about you, when he hit the bottom of despair, you were the one to hold him tight and help him out of it. "We are only human." You muttered into his neck. "There is so much that we can't control, and yet we keep fighting. We're so stubborn." You made a soft sound, chuckling against his skin. He felt goosebumps cross his spine at the feeling of your breath in his neck, his fingers rubbing your back.

"Even when we are broken, we find a way to live with it." He murmured back, pressing a kiss to your ear that was in the reach of his lips. His fingers moved to tangle in your hair, pulling you back for him to look at your face. Eyes half lidded stared into his, slipping completely shut as he moved closer and sealed your lips. That touch was so welcomed by the both of you, lips moving in a gentle kiss. His taste made you let out a soft sound, your tongue touching his for more. There was something about the way he kissed you, it was too deep and caring. It wasn't just a kiss to help sooth you down, it went way beyong that. It was a kiss filled with feelings that were more than simply being in love with someone. There was love, deep care, admiration, just everything you felt for each other. He sucked on your bottom lip, his fingers massaging the nape of your neck.

When he broke the kiss, he pressed his lips to yours a few times before pulling away to look at you. He fixed your hair back behind your ears, watching your blushing face and how you tried to avert your eyes from him, but always ended up looking back at him. A ghost of a smile tugged at his lips, but soon disappeared as he pulled you in for more. Feeling him so next to you made your heart beat faster, soft sounds falling from your lips. Your fingers tangled in his hair, pulling him closer to deepen the kiss. You needed him so badly, you wanted him and no one else. No one ever came near what Levi meant to you. Having found safety and love in such a broken person, you needed Levi. He was so broken, that's how your light got in and filled him up completely.

He bit your lower lip gently before pulling back, resting his forehead against yours as he looked into your eyes. He raised a hand to hold your face, fingers brushing against your cheek. "To think I would fall for some annoying brat." He muttered, moving in to suck at your upper lip gently before letting go once more. He fall silent, just watching your blushed cheeks, your eyes hazy as you looked into his. He loved that expression you had on, he wanted to see that expression more often. What he loved the most about it, was that he was the one that led you to make that expression. "More." He mumbled before claiming your lips once again, but not as gentle as before. This was a more passionate kiss, he was giving in to his wild instincts, he could become an animal quite easily when teased by such delicious expression.

When you woke up later that day, you realised you were not on your bad, your eyes widening as you remembered the events of the previous night. Levi's body was close to yours, covered only by the thin sheets that were over your body as well. He opened his eyes after a while and caught you looking at him, your cheeks turning red as he leaned in to steal a kiss. He didn't have to smile for you to tell he was happy, it was something you could see in his eyes. And that look was, for you, the most important thing to protect. He pulled you closer, arms wrapping around you as he moved in to suck at your neck, next to the marks he had left the night before. A soft chuckle left you, fingers tangling in his hair.

That went on for weeks, waking up beside him and falling asleep next to him. Those had been the best weeks since you had joined the Survey Corps, you had never felt so light and fulfilled. Your biggest goal was still to free humanity from it's prison, but having Levi share that burden with you made it lighter for the both of you. And you had something to look forward to, a family with him. Maybe somewhere in the future, once your duty was done with, you and him could settle down in a small house and start a little family. That was all you would ever ask of him. And silently, he wished the same. You made him want to settle down and be at peace, even if he was by nature made to fight.

"You're underdressed for this cold, Levi!" You scolded at him, shaking your head in disapproval as he ignored you and kept walking. Once you caught up with him, you made him stop on his tracks and put on your white scarf. "Here, this will keep you warm." You smiled up at him, tugging at his hand to make him look in the mirror. "What do you think?" You asked, fixing it up around his neck, one of the ends hanging in his front and the other in his back. He raised a brow at his image in the mirror, watching himself for a minute before turning back to you and shaking his head. "I look like a bitch." He clicked his tongue, making you roll your eyes. Pulling him closer, you fixed the scarf so it looked like a cravat around his neck.

"I look like a smug asshole." He clicked his tongue again, but you hit him in the head, rolling your eyes once more at him. "You look handsome, Levi." You smirked, stepping closer to him to kiss his jaw. "I loved it." You hummed softly, admiring what now had turned into a cravat around his neck, happy that he had given up and let you have your way. That was something constant, though. It didn't matter for how long Levi resisted, you would have your way sooner or later. When he wanted to be just as stubborn as you, it would last for days and even weeks of this game. Yet you would always triumph against him. He didn't really mind it, but you were proud of having him give into you.

"(Name)." He called you, his eyes were on his reflection on the mirror. You lifted your gaze to his face, tilting your head to the side as you did whenever he called you, much like a cat would do. "Do you wanna marry me, brat?" The question came so out of the blue you couldn't form an answer, eyes wide and lips parted as you stared him in awe. A dark blush crossed your cheeks as you slowly formed the words to answer him. "Of course, you idiot." Your voice was low, but he heard it clearly, eyes now stuck on your face before he pulled you in for a kiss. That had been in his mind for sometime now, even if both of you had planned to start your family only after things were settled, neither of you could really afford to wait for an uncertain future. He wanted you to be his bride, he had known for some time that you were the only one that he wanted to be with. He was like the wolfs, after all. He wanted only one mate for his entire life.

The marriage was a few months later, a few close friends were your witnesses. Erwin, Hanji, Mike and Petra. Even if Erwin didn't really agree on it, afraid that either of you could desert the Survey Corps or that you could simply lose focus and die trying to protect each other, he knew that there was no convincing with either of you, so he went with it. That was one of the rarest times you saw Levi smile, and it was he first time for everyone else. He kissed you so passionately in front of everyone that they joked that you should get a room. But Levi took it seriously and got a room for you too. That day, everything felt different. It was the first time of you two as husband and wife, everything was slower, as if you were knowing each other for the first time. It was gentle, passionate, kind, loving.

Time passed so fast after that, the days of training and the days spent with Levi. Every day was filled with happiness, with hope. The future of a happy family was not so far anymore, the last expeditions were sucessful, with little casuality. Things were getting better for everyone, the sad days were over, every soldier was now filled with light. The joy you and Levi brought to everyone was beyong expectations. What Erwin thought would disturb the missions, actually helped everyone work better. The couple of the survey corps was the hope they had, they were somewhat of a symbol to the others. Your squad had became closer to him because of you, Petra and Auruo always teasing you two.

A new expedition was coming, and everyone had their hopes up that this time there would be no casualties as they had new weapons and equipments to kill the titans. The new tactics Erwin had created were working perfectly. A few days before the day had finally arrived, Levi ended up hurting himself in his training because of a newbie that couldn't control his own gear. He was pissed, wanted to kill the poor child, but you were able to hold him back. You helped him up and did the first aid on his leg. With that bad leg, both of you knew he could not go to the field. If he did, it was certain death. And neither you nor Erwin would ever allow that to happen. "Come on, Levi. We're only human." You told him as you massaged his shoulders, wanting him to relax. "There's so much we can do. It's time for you to stay back and rest."

"I don't want you to got, (Name)." He looked down at his legs, frustrated that he could not be by your side in the most important of times. He didn't want you to go out there without him. When he left people, they ended up dying. It happened to Farlan and Isabel. He couldn't let it happen with you. "I wish I could stay and take care of you, but they will need me out there. I am humanity's strongest soldier after all." A soft chuckle escaped your lips as you hugged his sitting frame, kissing the back of his neck. "Come on, I promise you I will compensate once I'm back." His fingers held your arms tightly, not wanting you to let go. "We still have a family to build, right?"
