There was a smile playing on your lips as your eyes watched the sea before you, happiness filling your senses like never before. Taking a few steps forward, your feet met the cold water, the sand slipping between your fingers. A soft laugh echoed from you, your body moving in circles as a planet rotating around it’s center. Everything felt normal, happy, the way it should have always been.

You hear a voice, see a ghost of a smile on his lips and feel a hand tugging at your arm. Quickly moving to nuzzle into him, your eyes shine and you think how things were so beautiful after all the horrors you had seen. A single tear escapes your eye, but he quickly wipes it with a soft kiss. The feeling of his lips touching your skin in such a tender way made a shudder crawl up your spine, your hand coming up to rest over his cheek.

His eyes weren’t as harsh as before, his expression was more serene, but his voice remained the same. The scars from the years of fight within him would forever be there, it wasn’t something that could be erased or forgotten. However, it made the both of you enjoy the time you had together more than someone else in the world would. Because you knew just how horrible it was, the constant fear of losing one another.

Dancing around in the side, smiles on your faces, eyes shining. The nightmare was finally over, you had reached the sea. Peace, it was finally achieved. You hold his hand, afraid that he would disappear if you let go, you smile to him as if each smile would be the last. He moves closer, one hand around your waist as his lips meet yours. You are happy. You are safe.

You call his name softly as he breaks the kiss, biting your lower lip and glancing up at him. Your eyes were sparkling; there was happiness in them like never before. “Is this how freedom tastes like?” You ask, but he doesn’t answer you, his eyes are glowing and locked on your face. His fingertips brush softly against your cheek, mapping out every inch of your skin, afraid he would forget about it when he closed his eyes.

A soft sound leaves your lips as he gently lays you down on the sand, his hands slowly tracing down his sides as if you were some sort of porcelain doll that could break at a careless touch. His lips attach to your skin, soft kisses being pressed to your neck, slowly tracing downwards to your collarbones where he leaves small love bites. He pulls away for half a moment, eyes lidded and clouded; he only wants to appreciate his work.

He was being unusually gentle and caring towards you, he was probably scared of something you could not tell what it was. The only think you cared was being with him, feeling his warmth and scent surrounding you, having his lips over yours. There was nothing else but his soothing touches and the sounds he made as he marked your skin with excessive carefulness; the marks were to show everyone else who you belonged to, the tenderness only to please you and show you how much he cared.

Pulling away from you, he rolled to his side, laying beside you on the sand. Your eyes remain closed for just another moment, your soft breathing making your chest heave up and down slowly. Shifting closer to him, you lay your head on his chest, taking a soft breath to take in his smell. “I was thinking,” You started, your eyes locked on the bright blue sky before you. “You got us here now, it’s all because of your efforts.” You smile, but does not look at him.

“I wasn’t the only person to fight.” He stated shortly, you could not tell if his eyes were closed or set on the sky, but you knew they weren’t on you. “There were many sacrifices, many lives lost for this cause. We won, at last.” You can tell by his voice that he is sad, he still can get passed it; the fact that most of the people close to him were gone. “Humanity won against the titans, people once more were able to have safety, peace. Not for long, though. Only until the next enemy is born.” He sighed softly.

“You were the bravest soldier between all of them, Levi. Even breaking and falling to pieces you still fought to save everyone, people who treated you like you were less than worthy. You are a good man.” Tears sprung to your eyes, you smile. “You are safe now, you can rest.” You slowly move away from him, sitting and watching him with sad eyes. “I’ll find a way to live through it, I promise you.” You smile. “So go now, rest. You deserve it.” His voices, his touches, nothing was really there. It was only a memory, a ghost of someone you couldn't find the strenght to let go.

There was a smile on his lips, one you had never seen before and it was enough to make the tears run down your cheeks. “Close your eyes.” You instructed, your knuckles brushing lightly against his skin, but you could not feel anything. His form slowly disappears into tiny little sparkles, and you know now that he can rest in peace. It wasn’t right to keep him there, imprison him in a place he did not belong to. Not after spending his entire life as a prisoner of his swords and ideals. He deserved more, because he also gave you life. He gave others life, too. He gave them hope. He set them free.  “Thank you, for everything.”
